Madonna and Child – Michelangelo
black and red chalk, white pigment – c. 1535-1540?
Casa Buonarroti, Florence
Again, I am moved by the sensitivity in this piece. I had pointed this out previously with Da Vinci’s painting and I find the same quality evident in this drawing of Michelangelo’s. I was fortunate to get to see it at a show at the Art Gallery Of Ontario just recently. What an absolute privilege to be in the presence of true genius. To look at a piece actually touched by the great Michelangelo was very moving. Again, what a privilege.
